ROAR works across Roatán to identify, treat, and support animals in need—focusing on cases where we can make the greatest impact.

ROAR operates as a foster-based rescue network.

We don’t have a shelter. Instead, we work directly in the community—coordinating care, supporting animals through recovery, and relying on fosters, volunteers, and local partnerships to make each case possible.

🟡 Case Response

Every situation starts with someone noticing an animal in need. ROAR helps assess each case based on condition, urgency, and available resources. From there, we determine how we can best support—whether that means medical care, foster placement, or guidance within the community.

🔵 Medical Care & Sterilization

ROAR works with local veterinarians to provide treatment for injury, illness, and urgent medical conditions. We also support sterilization efforts to reduce overpopulation and prevent future suffering—an essential part of long-term impact on the island.

🟢 Foster Care & Placement

Because ROAR does not operate a shelter, recovery happens in homes. Fosters provide a safe place for animals to heal, gain strength, and stabilize—often for the first time. When an animal is ready, we work to find a permanent home whenever possible. Adoption is an important part of the process, but it depends on having a safe place for that animal to be in the meantime. This is where some of the most meaningful transformations happen—from survival to stability, and often into a home.

🟣 Working with the Community

ROAR works directly with community members across the island. This includes supporting individuals who step in to help animals, providing guidance, and working collaboratively to improve outcomes at the local level.
